Carmarthenshire Housing With Care Fund has launched a new round of capital grants to support unpaid carers, with applications open until 28 February 2025. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for carers to access up to £1,000 in funding to help with the purchase of essential goods and services that can either assist them in their caring duties or enhance their overall wellbeing.

The fund is designed to support a range of needs, including:

  • home repairs and improvements: funding can be used for repairs, refurbishments, or improvements to homes that serve as existing housing with care settings.
  • equipment and minor adaptations: carers can apply for minor adaptations and equipment that aren’t covered by other Welsh Government grants. This could include storage space for mobility aids, wheelchairs, or other necessary equipment.
  • Digital aids and assistive technologies: grants are also available for technology that helps carers monitor and assist those they care for.

To be eligible for this funding, carers must meet one of the following criteria:

  • provide 50 or more hours of unpaid care each week within their home
  • be in receipt of Carer’s Allowance
  • be caring for an older adult (aged 55 or over)

Only one application is permitted per carer or household caring for the same individual, so it’s essential to make the most of this opportunity.

If you’re a carer in Carmarthenshire, don’t miss this chance to access financial support and make your caring responsibilities a little easier. Applications close on 28 February 2025.
